How soon will my order be shipped?

Orders will be shipped within 1 week of being placed. If for any reason your shipment is delayed, you will be notified by phone or email. Please allow up to an additional 5 business days for transit.

What size urn should I purchase?

    • The volume will show how many cubic inches the urn will hold. For example, a 150 lb individual at time of cremation will produce approximately 150 cubic inches of cremains. This means there will be 1 cubic inch of cremains for every 1 pound at time of cremation.
    • If the urn will be stored in a niche or columbarium, be sure to consider the dimensions of the space the urn will occupy.

How do I move cremains into an urn?

We recommend that families bring cremains to a local funeral home or crematory. Some families choose to transfer cremains themselves, although we recommend checking with local regulations before proceeding.

Can I bring an urn from Affordable-Urns.com to a funeral home?

Absolutely. You can purchase an urn at our site and bring it to a funeral home. According to the FTC Funeral Rule, consumers have the right to choose the funeral goods and services you want.

Can Affordable-Urns.com put the cremains into my urn?

Affordable-urns.com does not offer a transferring of cremains service. We recommend that families bring cremains to a local funeral home or crematory.

How do I open and close an urn?

There are many different ways of sealing an urn.

  • Threaded lid.
  • Bottom opening plate sealed with screws.
  • Bottom opening plate sealed with adhesive such as epoxy or silicone.
  • Threaded plug on the bottom of the urn.

What are keepsake urns?

Keepsake urns are used to hold small amounts of cremains. They are typically used in a situation where multiple family members or friends will take a keepsake to remember their loved ones. Keepsake urns are typically offered in sizes between 1-50 cubic inches.
